The trail serves to show visitors climate-friendly and resource-efficient technology in practice in connection with the regional natural area and its animal and plant diversity.
The aim is to record the biological and technical characteristics of the zero-emissions campus and its immediate surroundings and to develop a presentation structure that prepares the information on the innovative technical solutions and different natural areas and their biodiversity in an appealing way for visitors and which can be actively experienced on the nature trail power.
In cooperation with the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park Office, topics are processed and made accessible to the public.
This educational trail with its knowledge transfer enables the Birkenfeld Environmental Campus and the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park Office to offer locals and visitors an attractive addition to their range of activities.
32 boards will be set up on the grounds of the environmental campus and the cycle path to Birkenfeld. The presentation of the educational trail concept took place in July 2022 on the open day at the environmental campus.

The nature trail is connected to public transport via the Neubrücke (Nahe) train station and the Birkenfeld bus station.
